UK consulting firm BMT Group has acquired South Australian company Effectiva, a submarine design, engineering, and assurance company.

Announcing the deal on 4 July, BMT said the acquisition is a statement of confidence by the group in the “continued development of Australia’s sovereign shipbuilding industry”. The financial details of the transaction were not revealed.

Sarah Kenny, BMT’s chief executive, said the acquisition is part of BMT’s long-term commitment to Australia. “We will now be even better placed to play an ever more predominant role in submarine design, engineering, and assurance, and meet the demands of a dynamic market,” she said.
