To support the local production of the Saab Gripen E fighter in Brazil, a new manufacturing facility in São Bernardo do Campo has been established.
The 5,000-square-metre Saab Aeronáutica Montagens (SAM) plant will develop aerostructures for Brazil’s Gripen fighters – 36 of which are on order – under the terms of the offset agreement, and will additionally add to Saab’s global supply chain for civil aviation and defence products.
SAM will produce six structural parts for Brazil’s fighter, namely the tail cone, aerodynamic brakes, wing box, front fuselage for the single-seat and two-seat versions, and the rear fuselage for the single-seat version of the aircraft.
