US ammunition and rocket motor manufacturer Orbital ATK generated revenues of USD1.3 billion in the first quarter of 2018, a rise of almost 21% year-on-year, according to financial results published on 3 May.
The company’s operating income in the three months to 1 April also rose, reaching USD153.6 million, up nearly 27% on the same period in 2017.
This performance increase was contributed to by all three of Orbital’s business units, although Flight System and Defense Systems’ year-on-year revenue growth, at 30% and 24% respectively, was markedly faster than Space Systems’ 5%.
This trend was also reflected in the divisions’ earnings growth, with strong expansion seen in Flight and Defense Systems, while Space Systems recorded first-quarter income almost 22% lower than in 2017.
