The Brazilian Navy is acquiring a containerised flight training device (CFTD) to train the crew of its six Sikorsky S-70B (designated SH-16 in Brazil) Seahawk helicopters.

The simulator is being purchased under the Brazilian Navy’s Helicóptero de Multi-Emprego (multipurpose helicopter) acquisition programme, worth USD396.8 million, which included the S-70Bs, spares, and maintenance equipment, in addition to a simulator.

The Department of Aeronautics of the Navy is expecting to select a contractor by early 2018. The contract award will include a two-year initial support package. Brazil is currently analysing proposals that were received as part of an international tender issued via the US foreign military sales (FMS) process.
